CALISTA FLOCKHART FORD UPDATE

The Korner hasn't been known to feature much "movie news" in past editions. However, it appears that both Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart are about to engage in career comebacks and that spurs some area interest due to the fact that Calista's parents are Boone High School graduates and that she, as a young girl, spent some summer time in the Boone area.

Ronald Lee Flockhart and Kay Calista Honohan graduated with the BHS class of 1951. Ron died in July of 2020. His parents were George and Jewel Flockhart and he had a brother, Larry, who became a Stratford resident. All three are deceased. Larry's wife, Dora Ann (Dodie) Flockhart of Stratford survives.

Kay's parents, now deceased, were East Boone County farmers, John Harold and Ev Honohan. Ev was very much involved in numerous area projects and more than willing to issue her opinion on issues that evolved. Kay's brother, Jay Honohan, was a 1948 BHS grad and is a long time Iowa City native.

An ISU grad, Ron Flockhart and Kay lived in several areas of the U.S. while he worked for Kraft Foods. Kay was an English teacher, who leaned heavily toward theatre work. The couple retired in 1995 and made their home in Morristown, TN.

Calista Kay was born in Freeport, IL in 1964, graduated from Shawnee High School in Medford, N.J. in 1983 and attended the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre from Rutgers in 1988.

Calista, 57, met Harrison Ford, 80, at the Golden Globes ceremony in 2002 and in June of 2010, they were married. Calista had adopted a son, Liam, in 2001 and the couple are also parents of three sons and one daughter from Ford's previous marriages.

Calista gained early fame as the title character in the Ally McBeal TV series, 1998-2002, and Brothers and Sisters, 2006-2011. Ford, of course, is most well known for his Indiana Jones portrayals, although he has also starred in various other films.

Both have been relatively quiet in the most recent years, spending a lot of time at their residence at their 800-acre ranch in Jackson Hole,WY.  However, it appears they are both anxious now to return to work.

Calista is in the HBO drama "Feud," which describes Truman Capote's fall from grace as he was shunned from the New York social scene. It will air in December.

Ford will be appearing in the upcoming "Yellowstone" spin-off " 1923." He also has one last Indiana Jones film, "Indiana Jones 5" coming.

In a surprise appearance at the Disney D23 expo, he promised, "I won't fall down for you again." and added, "Indiana Jones movies are about fantasy and mystery but they're also about heart." The series began with Raiders of the Lost Art in 1981 and that was followed by Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and in 2008, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull."
