BOONE CONNECTED DEATHS

    Donald Gene Prokop, 87, Boone. Born in Callender. CHS-53. Married Pauline Jean Rusnak from 1957 until their separation in 1995. The family moved to Boone in 1968 as Don joined Kruck Plumbing and Heating. Later, he was employed at the the Boone County Hospital in the engineering department. He retired in 2002. Don loved being outside, watching wood burning in his backyard chimney. He also enjoyed helping on the family farm. Survivors include five adult children, including Boone residents Vicki (Lou) Greco, Teresa (Curt) Trowbridge and Mark (Stacy) Prokop. Also surviving are three sisters and two brothers and his longtime companion, Debbie Svaleson. Services in Boone.

    LaVon Elaine Greene Kruse, 82, Woodburn, OR. Was born in Iowa City. LaVon married Harold (Harry) Kruse when she was l8. In Boone, where she grew up, she worked at the A and W Rootbeer stand as a waitress who would roller skate to wait on cars parked in the restaurant lot. Prior to that, in Oregon, she had helped Harry sell insurance. Her parents and brother were all blind so she had a lot of family responsibilities. In 1960, the family moved to Riverside, CA. From there, they moved to El Monte and then Simi Valley, CA. In 1982, Harry's job took them to Appleton, WS but, due to the Wisconsin winters, they moved to Ashland, OR. They also spent time in Waldport before LaVon landed in Woodburn, OR after Harry's death in 2019. Survivors include four sons and a brother, Ronald Greene.
