Mary Kathleen ( Kay) Jacobson Brown, 88, Urbandale. BHS-52. In 1956, Mary earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Clarke College with a major in Biology and minors in Chemistry and English. In 1971, she received her Master's Degree in Education from Drake University. Married Wendell Brown in 1960. Mary taught fifth grade at St. Joseph and later, transitioned to Holy Trinity School in Beaverdale. She left teaching to become the owner of Elsie's Gift and Card Shop in Beaverdale. In addition to Elsie's, the couple expanded their business to include Heart's Desire and Coffee Tree. She was an avid reader and bridge player and belonged to the Urbandale Golf and Country Club. Survivors include her husband, Wendell, two sons and a daughter. Her parents, now deceased, were Earl and Jennette Jacobson of Boone. She was a long-time member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Daniel Ross Coleman Sr., 76, Grand Junction. Survivors include a sister, Sandy Pickett, of Boxholm. Services in Jefferson.
