BOONE CONNECTED DEATHS

     Gerald Smith, 85, San Luis Obispo, CA. BHS-56. Passed from complications of Lewy-Body Dementia. He earned a  B.S from ISU in 1961 in Landscape Architecture. In 1963, he married Sara Beth Clark. The couple moved to California so Gerald could work with some noted landscape architects who convinced him to return to school to earn a Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture. He did that at the University of Illinois where he taught and finished his schooling in 1968. Later, he taught at Utah State University. In 1979, he became the Department Head of Landscape Architecture at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. He retired in 2001. He was always interested in outdoor activities, fishing, golfing, running and bicycling. Survivors include his wife, Sara Beth, two adult children and a sister, Janet Smith (Richard) Maynard, BHS-60.

     Patricia Sue Moorman Miller, 76, Boone. Born in Boone. BHS-64. Married Paul Miller in Boone in 1964. A homemaker, she had lunch with her sisters on the first Wednesday of each month, was known for her chicken and noodles and enjoyed crocheting and doing word search puzzles. Survivors include her husband, Paul, eight adult children, including six Boone residents, Alan (Sally) Miller; Andy (Lisa) Miller; Kandi Miller; Philip (Melissa) Miller; Kyle (Lindsey Schmitz) Miller and Alex Miller. Five brothers, three sisters and a daughter-in-law, Patti Miller of Boone, also survive. The brothers are Vernon, Ronnie, Jack, Raymond and Denny Moorman and the sisters are Joyce Elsberry, Janice (Ed) Swain and Donna Myers. Services in Boone.
