BOONE AREA DEATH

     Daniel Eugene Woodlund, 74, Marshalltown. Formerly of Madrid. MHS-67. He was active in cross country and track and was a member of two state championship teams in 1965, the cross country team and the mile relay team. He continues to hold a 100-meter record. Army VietNam vet. After service he returned to Madrid and worked at Oscar Mayer in Perry. He was married to Shari Zander and they have remained friends through the years. Daniel enjoyed slow pitch softball, watching the Cyclones and New York Yankees and was instrumental in establishing a Fantasy Baseball group. Survivors include three adult children, including Jasey Zander of Boone and Acey Zander of Madrid. Also surviving are two sisters, Sharon Winter and Janice Johnsen, both of Madrid and three brothers, including Kenny and Donald Woodlund of Woodward and William (Carol) Woodlund of Madrid.
