Lt. Colonel Sven Lee Sterner, 83, Holly Lake Ranch, TX. Former Boone resident. BHS-59. Sven, a 34 year Army veteran, has served as President of the Greater Hawkins (TX) Veterans Memorial Association and has been instrumental in the development of the Veterans Memorial Park there. A former Director of the Holly Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. Earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oklahoma City University, a Master of Science degree from Trinity College and a Masters in Strategic Planning for Global Situations from the Army War College. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Sterner.
Winfield E. "Bill" Erickson, 76, Newburgh, Indiana. Born in Boone. Army vet, serving for more than 31 years. While in the service, he earned a B.S. Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. After retirement from the military, Bill worked as a medical claim's examiner, in accounting and in orthopedics. Bill enjoyed watercolor painting, politics, music and teaching his grandchildren to paint and sew. Growing up on a farm, he helped his family produce corn and beans during his early years. Survivors include five family members. Services in Madison, Indiana.
