Joye Bonelle Krumm Engstrom, 91, Ankeny. Born in Hamilton County. Stanhope HS. Tobin Business College. Joye worked at the Boone County Hospital for 32 1/2 years and was the Business Manager when she retired in 1994. Married Duward Engstrom in 1952 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Boone. Transferred later to Trinity Lutheran in Boone while living here for 30 years. Moved to Ankeny in 2004. Joye loved line dancing for over 20 years and was a Hawkeye fan. Survivors include a son, Daniel, a daughter, Cindy O'Brien, and a step-son, Jody. Services are pending.
Carla Knight Gifford, 64, Boone/Eastern Star. Formerly of Pilot Mound. Married Rick Gifford in 1977. Carla worked as a CNA at Woodward State Hospital, Boone County Hospital, Madrid Home and Evangelical Free Home. She enjoyed following her sons and grandson's activities, watching NASCAR, scouring garage sales and checking in on Facebook. Her husband Rick passed away in March, 2024. Survivors include two sons, Wayne (Samantha) and Jerry (Jess) Gifford, both of Boone, a brother, Jeff (Jamie) Knight, and sister-in-law, Dixie Casady also of Boone. A COL will be held later.
