   BOONE CONNECTED/AREA DEATHS 

   Eugene (Gene) David Joyce, 75, Fond Du Lac, WI. Born in Kansas. Left HS at 17 to join the Marines. Vietnam vet. Married Minta Beckner in California in 1982. Worked as a locksmith for over 20 years and delivered packages for EP  Direct until retirement. Lived in Boone in the late 70's and worked at the Best Western Hotel with the Barstad's. Married Ruth Ann Raulston in Boone. Collected Coca Cola memorabilia, enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle and was a classic car enthusiast. Survivors include his wife, Minta, two sons, five daughters and a brother. Services in Fond Du Lac.

   Dorothy Ruth Todd Harrison, 99, Madrid/Boone County Hospital. Born in Illinois. At age 11, the family moved to Ames where her dad began his own grain elevator construction business that, today, continues to thrive throughout the Midwest under the name Todd and Sargent. Married Harry Harrison in 1944 after he returned from military service. That cut short her college career at ISU. Harry began his career with the State Conservation Commission and the couple chose Madrid for their home. Dorothy spent 17 years working in the editorial department of the Des Moines Register. She enjoyed Madrid Garden Club, bridge clubs, Chapter ID PEO, church work and belonging to the Boone County Conservation Board. Survivors include a son, a daughter and a sister. A celebration of life will be held on her 100th birthday, September 5, 2022, at 4 p.m. at St. Paul's Church in Madrid.

   June Drake Anderson, Granger. Born in rural Madrid. Sheldahl High School. Married Darwin Anderson in 1937 and they spent most of their married life in Madrid. She was an avid doll collector of Kewpies, Barbie's and others. Survivors include four sons and two sisters.

   Irene M. Thies, 98, Oskaloosa. Born in Boone. Attended school in Boone. Married Raymond Thies in Jefferson in 1947. After working as a manager of a candy store in Seattle, she moved back to Boone and worked in the laundry department at the Evangelical Free Church Home until retiring after 20 years. Was a member of the Marion Street United Methodist Church and V.F.W. Post 817. Survivors include a daughter and two sons. Graveside service at Pilot Mound.

   SPECIAL NOTE: The Kornerman sees that the News Republican has posted the death of Egon Weaver August 5 and I believe that's the only mention of his death in any area media other than in Kelley's Korner. His death was posted in the Korner on July 26 and  his full obituary appeared in the Korner of July 27. Just sayin'.
