BOONE CONNECTED DEATHS

    James Richard (Jim) Riordan II, 72. Waukee. Formerly of Boone. Covid victim. Born in Boone and raised on a farm north of Boone. BRH-68. ISU-75. Was married to Rhonda Quade of Knierim from 1975-2015, after which they separated. Served nine years in the Iowa Senate. Also ran a tree nursery, was a grant writer for DMACC and chair of the Iowa Public Employment Relations Board for 14 years. Was active in Rotary, AA, Maple Grove United Methodist Church in Waukee and the Democratic party before a stroke suffered in 2018. Survivors include a son, Will, two daughters, Laura Berardi and Elizabeth Riordan, and four siblings, Don, Pat and Gary Riordan and Terri Rierson. Services at Methodist churches in Waukee and Boone and burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Boone.

    Harold Walter Kinne, 80, Boone/Eastern Star. Born in Fort Dodge. Grew up on a farm near Burnside. East Central Webster HS-60. AIB. Worked in the transportation and logistics department of Meredith Corporation in Des Moines. Later, earned a commodity broker's license. Married Connie Marie Knox in Urbandale in 1982. He returned to the transportation business and was a terminal manager for The Mickow Corporation in Saint Paul. In 1991, the couple purchased a Dairy Queen in Onalaska, WI. In 2004 they retired and built their dream home in Unionville, MO. In March, 2020, Harold sold the lake home and moved to Eastern Star. Survivors include three adult children, including Scot Kinne and family of Boone. A brother also survives. Services in Boone.
