Bruce Sydney Harris, 89, Des Moines. Formerly of Boone. Born in Boone. BHS-53. Married June Marie Buchmiller in Boone in 1958. The couple lived in Boone for 50 years before moving to Des Moines. Bruce was a care provider for his wife for many years prior to her passing in 2015. He worked at Iowa Electric in Boone for 30 years. Also served in the Iowa National Guard for 43 years. He concluded his military career as a Warrant Officer CW4. He retired in 1993 after thousands of hours flying helicopters and airplanes, multiple types and classifications. Bruce was an avid ham radio operator, a leader within MARS (Military Auxiliary Radio System) and volunteered at the Gold Star Museum at Camp Dodge. Survivors include his son, Brent, BHS-79, and a brother, Robert Harris, BHS-61. Services in Boone.
Donald Gene Knox, 83, Macomb, Illinois. Born in Luther. Luther HS-57. Married Joyce Irene Flickinger and then Charlotte Longcor. They both survive. Four adult children and five siblings also survive. He owned and operated Pagliai's Restaurant in Macomb from 1964-2012. He was also a skilled woodworker and loved gardening. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
