BOONE CONNECTED DEATH

    Ruth Ann Border-Springer-Baker, 91, Boone/Eastern Star. Born near Victor. Belle Plaine HS-50. Married Lewis Lafayette Springer in 1950 in Belle Plaine. DMACC-74. Obtained an Associate in Nursing, then graduated from the College of Saint Francis in Illinois with a Bachelor's in Health Arts in 1982. Her career started at the Boone County Hospital as a Nurse Aide and she then trained to be an OR Technician. Was then the Charge Nurse of the surgery department. After remarrying, she was a staff nurse at a hospital in Marcelin, a Home Health Nurse and Director of Nursing at Hillhaven Nursing Home in Missouri. Was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and a Rebekah for the Independent Order of Oddfellows. A Brownie leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, Sunday School teacher and a volunteer at the Ankeny Senior Center. Six adult children, including Leonard Springer of Boone, survive. Also surviving are a brother and sister, a son-in-law and step-son. Husbands Lewis Springer and Laverne R. Baker preceeded her in death. Services in Ankeny and burial in Boone/Bass Point.

   Lois Mae Wilcox Hess, 82, Boone/Eastern Star. Born in Boone. Married LaVerne Collison in 1939. He passed away in 1975. Lois worked at the Boone County Home until it closed and then at Genesis Development until her retirement. Enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting in her earlier years. Also loved playing bingo and watching NFL football. Survivors include two sons including Chris Smalley of Boone, grandchildren and sisters.Services in Boone.
