Jon Henry Walczyk, 83, Boone. Born in France. His Family came to the U.S. in 1955 when Jon was 14. HS in Chicago, despite not speaking English. Dakota State College where he played football and then earned a Master's Degree in foreign language from South Dakota State University. Married Jeanette Jacobson in South Dakota in 1963 and the couple started their careers in education, Jon, for five years as a high school teacher/coach and then as a foreign language instructor and football and wrestling coach at Dakota State College. The family moved to Boone in 1975. In 28 years at BHS, he taught foreign language and coached wrestling and football. Jon and Jeanette loved to travel and organized many overseas trips for friends. He loved speaking French or Spanish and sharing a glass of wine. He also enjoyed woodworking, gardening, golfing and dancing. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette, daughter Nicole, BHS-86, (Jim) Gelina and son Greg, BHS-88, (Darlene) Walczyk. Services in Boone.
Samantha Sue Tilley, 38, Boone. Born in Boone. BHS-2004. She enjoyed time with her two children, with boyfriend, Tony Cue, and his three children. Samantha loved fishing, camping, photography and scrapbooking. Survivors are her parents, Robby and Debra Tilley, her sons Richard and Hunter, boyfriend Tony and his children, George, Brandon and Rose Cue all of Boone. Three brothers, including Dana Tilley and Richard (Amanda Risius) Tilley, also survive. Services in Boone.
