BOONE/AREA CONNECTED DEATHS

      David Corbin Smelcer, 46, Boone. An outdoorsman and avid fisherman and rock collector. He also loved camping and hunting morels. He had a passion for riding his motorcycle and working on vehicles with his oldest son, Mason. He believed in the importance of organ donation and was a donor. His parents are Cindy Baldus and David Lawrence Smelcer and survivors include three children. A COL will be held in Boone at a later date. 

      Craig Frederick Wear, 61, Boone. Born in Ames. Parkway North HS/Missouri. Sioux Falls College. Married Jennifer Harder in Wisconsin in 1989. Craig was a writer, poet, disc jockey and the best short-order chef in Boone. He and Patrick Isles won championships in many barbeque contests. Survivors include his former wives, Jennifer Harder Wahl and Tammy Earll, three sons, a brother and his parents. Services in Boone. 

     Karen Nissen Donati, 57, Madrid. Services in Des Moines.

     Harold Dean Olson, 73, Madrid. Married Polly Jensen Olson in Madrid in 1986. ISU agronomy degree. He dedicated his life to all things farming. Traveled the world as an electrician for Western Geophysical on the ship Endeavor. Was an auctioneer and also helped his sons on various projects. He enjoyed fishing and tinkering with various projects. Known for his faith and loyalty to his family. Survivors include his wife, Polly, two sons, his mother, brother and two sisters.
