BOONE/AREA CONNECTED DEATHS

      Royal (Curly) Holz II, 78, Grand Junction. COL will be held at Bethel Church, L Avenue, Boone.     

      Anne Marie Rupp Verplank, 90, Boone/Eastern Star. Born in South Dakota. BHS-49. Worked as a cosmetologist her entire life, retiring in 1996 after her final 11 years of work at the Woodward State Hospital. Married Willard Verplank in 1958 in Nebraska. She loved reading and heaven and Jesus were her favorite topics of conversation. A daughter, DeeAnn Wolf survives. 

      Michael Edward McCoy, 73, Boone. Born in Boone. Grew up in Beaver. Grand Community HS-68. Married Vicki Phipps in 1968. Vicki passed away in 1972. Married Linda Crosman in 1980. Mike worked for the Chicago Northwestern and retired from Sauer Danfoss in Ames. He loved classic cars and was proud of his family, continuing to stay involved, even when his diseased lungs kept him from leaving his home. Survivors include his wife, Linda, a daughter, Shelly (Lance) Kooiker and sons, Shawn (Bri) McCoy and Bobbie E. (Emilie) McCoy all of Boone. Several grandchildren survive, including Briley and Kenzie McCoy, Lexi Stanton, Mavrick and Opal McCoy all of Boone. A brother and four sisters also survive. Services in Beaver.  

      Christopher G. Downey, 73, Formerly of Linden. Survivors include three adult children, Adria (Nate) Kester, Andrew (Chris) Downey and Allison (Mike) Frazier all of Ogden. A private service will be held.

      Ramon "Creamy" Munson, 75, Woodward. Grew up and lived in Madrid until 1999 when he built a house near Woodward. Army vet. Discharged in 1970 but then joined the Iowa Air Guard. Married Pamela Jesse in 1972. He loved the outdoors, fishing, deer, duck, pheasant and mushroom hunting. Also enjoyed scuba diving, swimming and horse back riding. American history, the Chicago White Sox and John Wayne movies also got his attention. Survivors include two daughters, a son, Eric Munson, of Madrid, a sister, his brother, Larry Helphrey, of Boone and an aunt. He proudly marched in many parades as a member of the VFW Post 5060. A COL will be held at the Madrid V.F.W.
