BOONE/AREA CONNECTED DEATHS

      Paul L. "Skeeter" Wilber, 95, Jefferson. He lived in Pilot Mound in his early teens. His wife, the late Doreen Hansen Wilber, won an Olympic Gold Medal in archery in the Olympic Games of 1972 in Munich, Germany. She had just started competing in the sport in 1966 and it was her husband, Paul, who got her interested and coached her in archery. Services in Jefferson.  

      Patricia Susan Platter Wilson,72, Boone/Eastern Star. Born in Boone. BHS-69. Married Donald Wilson. They divorced. Earned an Associate Degree in Office Technology from DMACC. Worked as an Office Manager at Professional Property Management for over 25 years prior to retirement. She enjoyed reading, going to the casino, traveling (cruises) and playing dominos. Survivors include her mother, Gwen Platter, and a daughter, Staci (Mark) Prokop both of Boone, a sister and brother, Steve (Laurie) Platter of Boone. Services in Boone and Moingona.   

     Michael Dean Schroeder, 75, Pensacola FL. passed away January 12, 2024. Born in Boone. Attended Trinity Lutheran school in grades 1-3. The family moved to Anaheim, CA when Michael was eight years old. He was a member of his high school's marching band and became a dedicated surfer. He earned a GED from Orange Coast College. Michael was a poet and a dreamer. He wrote lyrics to many songs he created and accompanied the songs with his guitar. He wrote short stories, some were published, and loved sailing his sailboat in Monterey Bay. Michael started what became a successful bottled water company in Salinas, CA, sold it and retired. He then moved to Pensacola but began suffering from Parkinson's and early dementia which resulted in his death. Survivors include a son, and two sisters, Madeline and Erica. His parents, now deceased, were Dean and Margarie Schroeder. Graveside services in Boone.

     Marijane Scheurich, 100, Camarillo, CA. Formerly of Boxholm passed away January 25, 2023. Graveside services will be held in Boxholm.
