BOONE/AREA CONNECTED DEATHS

       Doris Georgie Slagle Runge Summers, 91, Story City/Bethany Life. Born in Wesley. Grew up in Iowa Falls. Married Herbert Arthur Runge in 1953. She worked at the Iowa Falls hospital until the couple decided to move to Stratford to buy and operate a grocery store. After selling the store, Doris worked at Sandler Built Homes in Boone doing new construction work on prefab homes. Eventually, she worked at the Stratford Care Center until retirement. A great cook, Doris loved helping process and cooking wild game that Herb and her boys would bring home. Herb died in 1988 and Doris married Clifford D. Showers in 1998. Herb and Doris had six children and when she married Clifford, that added six more to the family. She cooked and coordinated reunions at the Stratford Park for years. She and Cliff eventually became fulltime campers, living between Stratford and Mission, Tx. Survivors include husband Clifford, son Michael (Debbie) Runge of Boone, Sandra (Eric) Sloan and Daniel Runge both of Stratford. Services in Stratford.   

     William "Bill" Sidney Barrie, 91, Ames/Gilbert. Born in Ames. Lifelong resident of rural Gilbert. GHS-50. Married Marilyn York in 1954. Farming was Bill's "hobby." He loved nature, especially the wildlife. The couple enjoyed many travels with Ritland Bus Tours. Survivors include a daughter, Connie Terrones and her husband, Bob, a couple well known by Boone residents. A son also survives. Services in Ames.

     LATE REPORT:

     James E. Siegler, 82, Brookfield, Il passed away last October. BHS-60. Worked for 40 years in the metal stamping industry, starting as a machinist at the age of 19 at Danly Machine Corporation. As a field service representative he served many auto manufacturers in assembly plants across the country, the continent and abroad. After Danly closed its Cicero plant, Jim became a sales engineer for Smedberg Machine Corporation until retirement. He was known for loving the Lord and his family, his humor and he liked classic cars and hot rods, singing and playing the piano and guitar. His wife, Carol (Sebring) and five children survive.
