BOONE CONNECTED DEATHS

     Helen Louise Rosengreen Johnson, 100, Boone. Born in Boone. BHS-40. AIB. Married Vernon Johnson in Boone in 1943. Helen was a housewife until 1954.That year, she made a cake for her daughter's wedding. That eventually developed into a cake baking business. Survivors include two daughters, Vicki (Denny) Beers and Judy Thompson who both reside in Florida, the Beers in Davenport and Ms. Johnson in Claremont. A son, Denny (Jeannie) Johnson resides in Boone. Services in Boone, October 16, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church.

     Corrine Backman, 97, Boone/Westhaven. Born in Alabama. Married Albin J. Backman in 1944 in North Carolina. In Wynot, NE, Albin was a mechanic and Corrine a cook. Albin died in 1994 and in 1995, Corrine moved to Boone. She always enjoyed cooking. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Roberts, of Boone and a daughter-in-law, JoNell Backman of Ogden. Graveside service in Nebraska.

     Elvin "Gene" Davenport, 85, Urbandale. Formerly of Ogden. Born in Lake City. Arispe HS-55. Married Cynthia Ann Peters in Ogden in 1959. They divorced and Gene married Beverly Josephine Powers in 1977. They also divorced. Gene did farm work with Charlie Frantum and also worked for Potter Construction, Flynn Dairy and Welder Construction. He enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing and wintering in Florida. Survivors include two sons, including Craig (Teresa) Davenport of Boone. Three brothers, a sister-in-law and Nathalee Suiter, a special friend, also survive. Services in Ogden.

     Mike J. Batterson, 59, Webster City, passed away in Boone County, the result of a traffic accident. Services in Dayton.
