BOONE CONNECTED/ AREA DEATH

      Joanne Marie Johnson Baldwin, 57, Vermillion, SD. Formerly of Ames. AHS. Earned a nursing degree from DMACC, Boone Campus. Services in West Des Moines.    

      Jacquelyn (Jackye) Lou Reid Ray, 96, Boone/Eastern Star. Born in Cedar Rapids. BHS-45. ISU, Textiles and Clothing. Lived in San Francisco a year before returning to Boone to work for a doctor. Married Dale Ray, a local restaurateur, in 1952. She then worked as office manager for Hallet's Construction for 26 years before retirement in 1984. Active in the Methodist church for more than 80 years. Also served as Vice-Adjutant of the Iowa Ex-Prisoners of War organization, as well as being a 75-year member of the Order of Eastern Star. Was an accomplished artist and seamstress, always dressed "to the nines" and expertly accessorized. Dale and Jackye wintered at South Padre Island, Tx for more than 15 years. Survivors include a daughter, Gretta (Dan) Geneser and a son, Tab (Marge) Ray. Services in Boone. 

      H. Jack Knight,  94, Boone. Born in Boone. Ames HS. National Guardsman for 16 years. He was an independent contractor and later, for over 30 years, a plant manager for Hawkeye Laundry and Dry Cleaning. In retirement, worked part-time for Stark Welin Funeral Directors. He loved cruises, the Fourth of July at Clear Lake, his coffee crew and meeting with the Thursday dinner group. Also loved played bridge, poker and cribbage. His famous Maid Rites and homemade ice cream will be missed. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Audrey (Olson) Knight of  Boone and six adult children, Jim (Nancy) and Mike (Diane) Knight, Jody (Carl) Hartwig, Cathy (Roger) Warden, Chris (Barb) Knight-Gipe and Angie (Brian) Goll. Services in Boone. 

   Keith A. Anderson, 75, Madrid. Born in Davenport. Grand Community HS. Attended Boone Community College for one year before U.S. Army service in 1968-69. Married Cheryl Anderson in Dayton in 1970. The couple made their home in Boone until moving to rural Madrid where Keith raised livestock. Before being drafted, he had worked at Quinn Machinery and Foundry and he returned to Quinn's from 1969-75. He then worked as a union carpenter/millwright for 28 years until retirement in 2008. Was a Boone County Freedom Flight veteran and member of the Boone VFW. Enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing softball, pool and bowling. Always enjoyed coffee at Wilson's Tap in Boone. Survivors include his wife, Cheryl, of Madrid, and two sons, Terry and Cory Anderson, both of Boone. Services at a later time.
