Thomas Bertrand Carney, 91, Fort Collins, CO. Born near Emmetsburg. BSH-50. Married Nancy in 1957 at Sacred Heart church in Boone. After two tours in the U.S. Navy, Bert and his brother, Jerry, began Carney Brothers Auto Salvage in Ames. In 1971, Tom and Nancy moved to Colorado Springs and then settled in Fort Collins in 1990. They retired in 1997 and did lots of traveling. Wife Nancy and Bert's six siblings, including Janese (Hancock) Carney, BSH-55, have all passed away. Six children survive. Services in Fort Collins.
Marvin Wayne Saathoff, 85, Boone. Born near Ackley. AHS-56. Married Barbara Jo Green in 1959. Was assistant manager of a grain elevator in Blairsburg and managed grain elevators in Garden City, Boxholm and Colo. He turned to banking and was the branch manager of the Colo office of State Bank and Trust of Nevada and was also the manager of the Colo insurance agency. After 20 years as a banker, he retired but worked part time selling real estate for a firm in Nevada. He was active in the Colo community, managed Colo Senior Housing for 10 years, was involved in Pheasants Forever, loved the outdoors, pheasant hunting, fishing and photography. Survivors include his wife, Barbara, a son, a daughter and brothers and sisters-in-law. Burial in rural Ackley.
