Thomas John McDonough, 77, Boone. Born in Storm Lake. Schaller HS. Moved to Boone. In 1963, left the farm to work as an electrician to build the IBP plant in Perry. In 1965, he married E. Kay McDonough and went back to the farm. Loved farming and raising livestock, especially Belgian horses. The couple raised their family outside of Schaller but moved to Boone in 1990. While working for Story County construction, Tom was also rebuilding everything on their acreage. Eventually, worked for G&D Waste Management with his uncle, Dean Pfrimmer. When Dean retired, Tom worked for Structural Components and on a vending route until retirement in 2019. Survivors include his wife, Kay, four adult children, a sister and two brothers.
Lindie B. Phipps, 66, Boxholm. Born in Boone. Grand Community HS-75. Married Julie Marie Williams in Boone in 1978. Had a passion for carpentry and woodworking. Worked at the Door Store in Ames and as a carpenter for Boone High School. Also worked 10 years as a press mechanic at Silgan Containers. In 1991, became a Boone County Sheriff's Deputy. Enjoyed hunting, fishing, classic cars and cooking. In 2009, for 16 years, the couple operated Grand Times Catering. Lindie was a huge Hawkeye fan. Survivors include his wife, Julie, of Boxholm, a daughter, Lindsey (James) Comer, of Ogden, a son, Blake (Whitney) Phipps, of Fraser, sisters Ginger Jones of Boone and Jamie Carroll of Stratford and brothers, Randie and Weslie (Teresa) both of Pilot Mound.Services in Boone.
