BOONE CONNECTED DEATHS

     Betty Jean Gutterridge Ferry, 101, Boone. BHS-40. Married Cecil M. Ferry in Boone in 1940. Lived in Clinton and Des Moines before moving to Boone. Survivors include two daughters, Joleen Vale and Connie Sue  (Darrell) Iles. Services in Boone.

     Donna L. Runyan Foust, 91, Jefferson. Grew up in Boone County and attended school in Jordan and Ogden. Married Neil Foust in 1954. The couple lived in Beaver and then Jefferson. Was a homemaker and then worked as a CNA at the Ogden Manor and Greene County Medical Center. After retirement she worked 10 more years in home health care. She loved camping, making beautful quilts, cooking, baking and being a member of the "Ditzy Domino Dames." Survivors include three daughters and a son-in-law. Services in Jefferson with burial in Linwood.

     Priscilla Jane Moore Smith, 75, Boone/Eastern Star. Former Story City resident.

     Daryl Gustafson, 74, Boone. Services pending.

     Marilyn Elizabeth Jackson Riehl, 71, Boone. Born in Texas. Dalhart HS-70. Married Tommy Riehl in 1970. Was a very gifted musician, an accomplished pianist, organist and classically trained vocalist. Was a participant in musicals, led choirs and taught piano and voice lessons for over 40 years. Spent most of her working career in church secretarial and administrative roles. A son, a daughter and a daughter-in-law survive. Services in Tennessee.

     Ruth Ann Smalley Evans, 85, Beaver/Eastern Star. Born in Ogden. Attended Beaver and East Greene schools, graduating in 1955. Received a DMACC Associates Degree. Married Paul Dean Evans in Beaver in 1955. The couple lived south of Beaver before moving into town in 1967. Was a homemaker until 1961. Worked at Bourns until its closing, was the Beaver postmaster and then the payroll clerk at Osmundson Manufacturing until retirement. Enjoyed church activities, playing the piano, camping and Bluegrass music. Also loved quilting and gardening. A son, a daughter and brother survive. Services in Ogden and Beaver.

     Albert Eugene Porter, 81, Boone. Born in Boone. BHS-60. Married Sheryl Davidson in Boone in 1962. Worked for Vogler-Nieman, Gillespie Motors and the final 16 years for Pat Clemons. Was known as one of the best auto detailers in the business. He loved coon hunting and trapping. Three adult children including Kevin Porter and Becky (Brian) Brauch of Boone survive. A sister also survives. A Celebration of Life will be held later.

     James Robert Crouse, 75, Boone. Born in Boone. BHS-66. Attended art school in Omaha. For 39 years, was a Graphic Artist for the Des Moines Register. His favorite hobby was classic cars. He loved working on cars and attending car shows. Also had a fondness for dogs and loved card parties. Survivors include his wife, Karen, a daughter, a son, a step-son, a sister, a brother, a half-sister and his stepmother. Private family services.

     Darrel Dean Smith, 62, Radcliffe. Survivors include four daughters, including Sidney (Skyler) Lundberg of Stratford. Services in Story City.

     Louis Ronald Greco, 64, Boone. Born in Boone. BHS-77. Married Vicki Prokop in Boone in 1979. Was an orderly at the Boone County Hospital, starting in 1976. In 1990, he became the director of the Ambulance Service. After 37 years of service, he retired in 2013 at 54 years of age. The couple became "cruisers," enjoyed playing cards and hosting family gatherings. Survivors include his wife, Vicki, a daughter, Carrie (Brad) Bristle of Ogden, a son and four siblings, including Robert (Terri) Greco of Boone. Services were held in Boone.

     Elizabeth Ann Erickson Pratt, 69, Nevada. Born in Boone. BHS-72. Loved all things Pepsi. Also enjoyed fishing, Meskwaki Casino and taking care of rental homes. Survivors include her daughter, Stephanie (Jose) Trujillo of Boone and her other half of 26 years, Kenny Lebo of Nevada. Services were held in Nevada.

     Donald Eugene Cox, 80, Boone. Born in Davenport. Spent his early years in Fairfield and Batavia. Was a lifelong baseball fan and outstanding pitcher. Batavia/Cardinal HS-60. Earned biology degrees from Northeast Missouri State and entered the education field. Married Elizabeth (Betty) Ornduff in Batavia in 1963. He developed the curriculum for the Life Science Program in Boone starting in 1965 and retiring in 1997 at the age of 55. Belonged to the Boone Sportsman Club and Boone Education Association. Enjoyed his poker club, couples card clubs and being a member of the Boone Squires square dance club. Don loved fishing, golfing and travel. Survivors include his wife, Betty, and three adult children. Services in Boone.

     Ernest (Ernie) W. Johnson, 97, Stratford. Services in Stratford and Illinois.

     Janice K. White, 84, Huxley. Survivors include three adult children, including Rusty (Connie) White of Boone. Services in Huxley.
