Duane Milton Townsend, 94, Ogden. Born in Odebolt. Grand Junction HS-51. Army vet. Married Aleta Kruse in Ogden in 1954. The couple resided in Ogden and Duane worked for 25 years at Ogden Grain Company and then was employed as a Foreman at Archway Cookies for over 20 years until retirement. He enjoyed woodworking, where the couple built their home, and crafts. Survivors include his wife, Aleta, of Ogden, two daughters, including Teresa (Darren) Huntley of Ogden. A brother also survives. Services in Ogden.
Donna Peterson Muench, 77, Rosemount, MN. Born in Boone. Lived in Ogden and Ames until marrying Steve Muench in 1968. A Navy wife, the couple lived in Long Beach, CA. and in 1972 moved to Apple Valley, then Rosemount. Attended AIB College of Business and Dakota County Vo-Tech Architechural Design in Rosemount. She was a natural at architechural and interior design and drawing. Worked as a law firm assistant, bank teller, financial bookkeeper and an Optometric Technician for 21 years before retirement in 2012. Survivors include her husband, Steve, three children and a sister, Gloria. A private celebration.
Steven Lee Pies, 73, Madrid. MHS-70. ISU-75 with a degree in Agronomy. Was a lifelong farmer in the Madrid area. Married Nancy J. Kendall in 1975. He loved farming, hunting and traveling. Survivors include his wife, Nancy, and a brother, Kent. A private burial in Madrid.
John Joseph Kolenz, 75, Madrid/Zook Spur. MHS-67. Army vet. Worked at Meredith Publishing and retired from R.R. Donnelly in 2002. After retirement, worked for Conley Security for several years. He lived in the family home at Zook Spur. He enjoyed gardening, sports, birds and anything ISU. A sister, Ethel, survives.
