Karen "K.K." Hubby Pearson, 83, Charlottesville, Virginia. Born in Boone. BHS-60. A polio victim at age six, she spent several months in the hospital, some of it in an iron lung. Earned a degree in English from Iowa State. Married Larry Pearson. Larry's career at General Electric took the couple to several East Coach/Midwest areas. Karen taught high school English and French before becoming Director of Education at Highland, Virginia. She was very active in community affairs and enjoyed traveling, reading, working on needlepoint and walking her poodles. Survivors include a son and daughter. A COL is scheduled in Charlottesville.
The Kornerman has received information from two Korner reporters regarding the death in a tragic home fire of a former Boone resident, Marcia Bohlen Silha, BHS-61. The accident occurred in Austin, Texas. We're told that an adult male, Marcia's husband, was in the home as well and is hospitalized with critical, life-threatening injuries.
Linda Dayle Swanson Kajer, 70, Marshalltown/Unity Point. Born in Boone. Her parents, Dayle and Doloris Coleman Swanson, are deceased. Nevada HS. Married Ronald Kajer in 1994. Linda was a clerk for Harris Auctions for many years. She loved old jewelry, feeding the cattle and birds, her KOI pond and flower gardens and going to the casino. Survivors include her husband, three step-children and three siblings. Graveside service in rural Toledo.
