BOONE CONNECTED/AREA DEATHS

    Allen Jensen, 82, Ankeny. Born in Nebraska. Attended Rippey and Minburn schools, 1958. A Marine vet. Married Linda Lou Madren in 1960. Worked at John Deere for 30 years, farmed near Madrid for a time and drove a truck for the U.S. Postal Service. Survivors include his wife, Linda, a son, James Jensen, of Madrid and a daughter. Services in Perry.  

    Arnold F. Hefte, 93, Boone/Eastern Star. Born in Forest City. Married Courtney Kemp. Served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, two of those years in Viet Nam. He was heavily decorated, receiving numerous medals, including the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Clusters, Vietnam service and campaign medals and the National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. After retiring from the military in 1972, he moved to Boone and started Heating, A.C. and Refrigeration serving the Boone, Ames and Ogden areas. Retiring from that business, he spent time buying old tractors, motors and cars, fixing them up and selling them. He loved his Harley Davidson and spending time with friends at Wilson's Tap. Survivors include his son, Don Hefte, of Boone, two daughters, two sisters and a brother-in-law. Services in Moingona.

    Roger Herman Santi, 74, Perry. Born in Madrid. MHS-65. Married Cheri Zaruba in Perry in 1973. The couple lived in Perry for 20 years, lived in Ankeny 20 years and for the last eight years, made their home at Lake Panorama. An avid gun collector and outdoorsman. Survivors include his wife, Cheri, and two sons. Cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time.

    Dean Ahrens, 90, Stratford/Stratford Nursing. Born in rural Boone County. Attended St. Paul's Church School. Married Ellen Lynch in 1955. The couple resided in Stratford most of their married life. A carpenter, he co-owned Ahrens Brothers Construction with his brothers, Dale and Jean. He later worked for Story Construction. He loved arrowhead and mushroom hunting. Survivors include his wife, Ellen, two daughters, including Jenifer Crim of Stratford and a son, Brett Ahrens, of Stratford. Services later at Oakwood Cemetery in Stratford.
