BOONE/AREA CONNECTED DEATHS

     Nathan Moeller, 42, rural Boone. Born in Story City. Trinity Lutheran school. South Hamilton HS-2000 where he participated in the band program. Worked at CDS in Boone many years in the mail receiving department. Enjoyed computers, electronics, fishing and hunting. Survivors include his mother, Nancy Ritland Moeller of rural Boone, two brothers, including Brian Moeller of rural Boone, and a sister, Sara Moeller, of Boone. Services at St. Paul's.   

     Ruth Ann Juries Abbott, 82, Boone/Eastern Star/Hearthstone. Born in Minnesota. Northfield HS. Winona State College. Married Lynn Carl Abbott in Minnesota in 1964. The couple moved to Watertown, WS where Lynn began his career with United Buillding Centers. There were subsequent moves to Fairmont, MN and in November of 1975, to Boone. Here, Lynn was the Manager of the UBC and Ruth was a teacher before becoming Lynn's bookkeeper until her retirement. The couple were active members of Trinity Lutheran Church, Boone Booster Club and were active in the  Boone County Fair and the Boone Rotary Club. Both Ruth and Lynn were awarded the Paul Harris Distinguished Fellow Award through Rotary for their dedicated years of service. Survivors include a son, Andrew, BHS-93, Abbott, a sister Joan, and a daughter-in-law. Services in Boone.    

      Rosemary Levin Hedlund, 88, Des Moines/Scottish Rite Park. Born in Nevada. Oelwein HS and ISU. Married William "Bill" Hedlund in 1958. Taught at the Iowa Culinary Institute and the DMACC Restaurant and Hotel program for 25 years and was a Food Judge at the Iowa State Fair for 20 years. Rosemary enjoyed serving as a Stephen Minister, spending time in South Texas, playing bridge and engaging in water aerobics at Scottish Rite Park. Survivors include her husband, William, daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" Solomon, a  longtime Boone School employee, and son-in-law, Dan Solomon, former longtime pastor of Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone. The Solomons are now Ames residents. A sister, brother and daughter-in-law also survive. Other survivors are the Solomon grandchildren, David, BHS-2006; John, BHS-2008; Michael, BHS-2012, and Paul, BHS-2015. A COL will be held in Des Moines, September 12. 

     Robert Eugene "Bob" Butts, 96, Naples, FL. Born in Algona. Civil Engineering degree from ISU. Army vet. Worked for an engineering company in Des Moines, met Drake student, Dottie Butts, of Boxholm and the couple married in 1957. They moved to Naples from Des Moines in 2017. A son and two daughters survive.

     Nicole Marie Spence, 40, Perry. Born in Perry. Perry HS. AIB. General Manager of the Hotel Pattee. Survivors include two sons, her mother, a brother, a best friend and partner and a very dear and close friend, Kayla Russell of Boone.
