Nancy Beulah Boyle Malmquist, 91, Boxholm/Madrid Home. Born in rural Dexter. Earlham HS-51. Earned an Elementary Teaching degree from Iowa Teachers/UNI in 1953 and taught fourth grade at Boxholm Consolidated School. Married John Nolan Malmquist near Earlham in 1955. After childbirth, she taught fifth grade at Dayton before accepting a secretary/bookkeeping job at the Stratford Care Center. She then became Activities Director at the care center until retirement. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, counted cross-stitch, genealogy and caring for her lawn. Survivors include three sons, a sister and sister-in-law. Services in Pilot Mound and rural Boxholm.
Sherry Sue Funke Ruggles, 78, Boone. Born in rural Bridgewater. Bridgewater HS-64. C.E. School of Commerce in Omaha, bookkeeping degree. Married Jim Ruggles in Bridgewater in 1966. Guided many school activities, was a Cub Scout Den Mother, hitting coach, fishing guide and instructed adult ed classes on cooking, baking and bookkeeping. Office Manager at K-Mart in Atlantic several years. After a move to Nebraska, continued lots of bookkeeping work for ranchers and farmers. Known for her cooking and baking skills.In retirement, the couple spent winters in Texas. Survivors include her husband, Jim, and two sons. Services in Atlantic and Anita.
Celestine Agatha "Sally" Schieffer Fisher, 100, Boone/Eastern Star. Spent her early life on farms in Nebraska. Worked in supplies at a hospital in Sioux City. Met and married Robert A. "Bob" Fisher in Nebraska in 1947. Her husband was a railroad worker and the couple lived in Carroll, Scranton, Wall Lake, Mason City and Boone. A Scout Leader, she worked at Mercy Hospital in Mason City, Ledges Manor and Boone High School. She enjoyed baking, quilting, making Christmas crafts and collecting folk art nativities. The family enjoyed winters in South Texas. Survivors include a son and three daughters. Services in Boone.
Kevin J. Anderson, 72, Boone. Born in Boone. BHS-71. Married Nancy Doran in 2003. Was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 2023. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding dirt bikes and was great at fixing things. Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Nancy Anderson, and a brother, Brian (Mary Kay) Anderson, both of Boone. A sister also survives. Services in Boone.
Willard Edwin Canine, 95, West Des Moines. Norwalk HS-46. Business and music student at Drake. Married Helen Melaas in 1949. After working for Standard Oil, took a job with FS (Farm Service). Transferred from Glidden to Boone, then Cedar Falls and Des Moines. Two sons survive. Services in Windsor Heights/West Des Moines.
