BOONE/AREA CONNECTED DEATHS

      John George Kujac, 80, rural Madrid. Born in Des Moines. DMEastHS. Degree in architecture from ISU and attended Drake law school. U.S. Army vet. Married Miriam Siehl in Ames in 1971. The couple made their home in rural Madrid for 47 years. He loved living on the acreage and doing farm activities. Followed ISU athletics and his grandchildren's 4-H activities. A history buff, he enjoyed camping. A 50-year architect, his is survived by his wife, Miriam, of rural Madrid, two daughters, including Ann Kujac (Mike) Schlieman of rural Madrid and two brothers. Services in Madrid.   

     Joan Marie Newland Sigmund, 88, Boone/Westhaven. Born in Woodward. BHS-54. Married Richard Carter in 1955. They divorced. Married Kenneth Buechler in 1995 and he passed away in 2003. Married LeRoy Sigmund in 2005 and he passed away in 2023. Joan worked for Donnelly's, at the Boone County Home, Credit Bureau, Spurgeon's and retired from J.C. Penny. She enjoyed Sweet Adelines, the church choir and taught Sunday School. Survivors include four daughters and a sister, Karen McCool. Services in Boone.

      Karla Jean Bice, 67, Eden Acres/Perry. A sister, Karen (Lynn) Sackett, of Ogden survives. Services in Perry.      

     Brian G. Gustafson, 78, Boone. Born in Boone. Jordan HS-64. A 20-year Iowa National Guard vet. Surveyed for the Iowa DOT but then started a 23 year career with the Boone County Courthouse in 1984. Was a custodian and retired as Maintenance Supervisor in 2007. Married Kathy Majors in Boone in 1993. Brian enjoyed golfing, bowling, vegetable gardening, visiting casinos and celebrating the Fourth of July. He bowled in various leagues for close to 50 years and was a 50-year member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Kathy, a son Gregory (Nikki), a daughter Kristine (Eric) Seeman, two brothers, Gary (Beth) Gustafson and Richard (Tammy) Gustafson, his mother-in-law, Shirley Powers, and a sister-in-law Carol Boucher all of Boone. A son, a sister and a sister-in-law also survive. Service in Boone.   

       David Wayne (Pickle) Wildt, 47, Boone. Born in Boone. BHS-96. Loved fishing and hunting and music, especially his nephew Justin Elliott's band. David enjoyed singing along. Survivors include a son, Levi Wildt, his mother Ruby Elsberry, sisters Ruth Wildt and Rhona Elliott, a brother, Danny Wildt, and half-sisters Lynette Stafford and Lori Ducksworth.
