Pat Kleinendorst Vermillion, 93, Boone/Eastern Star. Born in Newton. NHS-47. Married Richard (Doc) Vermillion in Newton in 1949. The entire family was involved in showing horses for 30 years and had two Grand World champions and three World champions. When Doc rode RAGBRAI, Pat drove the motor home. Pat enjoyed the Cyclones and feeding the squirrels. At holiday time, she hosted all the family until she was 90 years of age. Four adult children and two sisters survive. Services in Boone.
Ron D. Jome, 86, Ogden. Born in Wisconsin. Sturgeon Bay HS-55. Earned B.S. and Masters degrees in backteriology from the University of Wisconsin. U.S. Army vet. Married Barbara Bierfeldt in 1963. Earned his Ph.D in microbiology from the University of Maryland in 1967. Worked as a microbiologist in the poultry vaccine industry for nearly 30 years. Barbara passed in 1991 and Ron moved to Gowrie in 1992. In 1994, he married Janice Reko in Gowrie. The couple made their home in Ogden. In his 60's. Ron earned a Masters degree from ISU in counselor education. He worked for Aging Resources of Central Iowa until retirement. Ron was very active in community service, Kiwanis, Salvation Army, Lions and on the Board of Directors of Aging Resources. Survivors include his wife, Jan, of Ogden, five adult children and two brothers. Services in Ogden.
