IMPROVEMENT IS MUCH APPRECIATED

In the Kornerman's opinion, the Thursday, 7/25, edition of the Boone News Republican was the best we've been offered in a long, long time.
There were the usual obits and lots of area sports AND several other stories of BOONE interest.
     We were informed......
     (1) the Boone County Sheriff is backing his jailer who was involved in an altercation in Des Moines during a Good Guys car show.
     (2) We learned that Mayor John Slight and councilman B.J. McGinn will both seek re-election.
     (3) We found out that our new McDonald's is making progress in its rebuild and plans are being made for an Open House at the new facility in October.
     (4) We learned that, despite financial difficulties, our Boone YMCA remains open.
     (5) We learned there is a new audiologist in town and that the South Clinton watertower is receiving a new coat of paint.
     (6) We learned that the location of the old Sinclair station at Fourth and Mamie, next door north of Circle K, is being looked at as a possible site for a Scooter's coffee shop.
Folks, we haven't had that much Boone news in a single edition of the BNR for many months.
Kudos to Editor Logan Kahler and intern Michael Murrell. Hopefully, this will become a trend and we can expect similar extensive coverage in each edition. If the "regular" news is slow, how about lots of  "personal" stories about individual Boone citizens? Many of them have interesting stories to tell. Someone just needs to ask them about their work, their hobbies and their lifestyles.
