     BOONE CONNECTED DEATHS: Larry Adams reports the passing of Dr. Charles Updegraff, 94, Marshalltown. Formerly of Boone/Des Moines. BHS-42. He served the Boone community as an eye, ear, nose, throat specialist from 1954-87 when he retired to Des Moines. In Des Moines, he operated Nevada Bob's golf store. Among the survivors is his brother, Dr. .Ed Updegraff, BHS-39, of Tucson, AZ.........Sandra Stumpf, 67, Boone. Des Moines Tech HS. Attended Drake. Many jobs including 11 years at Lucas school. Survivors include members of the Christina Graham family and Sandra's best friend, Debbie Wiand.........Kevin Moeller, 61, Boone. Born in Boone. BHS-77. In his early years, he drove the church school bus and attended Hawkeye Technical in Waterloo to study aircraft mechanics. He married Melinda Rosedal in 1980. Worked at Northside Casey's, Sundstrand in Ames, the former Carlson Electric of Boone, and then, starting in 1983 until the present, he owned Moeller Electric. Survivors include his wife, Mindy, daughter Samantha and brothers, Kurt and Tod Moeller, all of Boone. Also surviving is a daughter, Sabrina, of Ogden and a sister..........Mike Bennett, 72, Boone. Born in Boone. BHS-65. Was an important member of the Toreador basketball team of 1963 that earned a berth in the State Basketball Tournament. Mike was a machinist for John Deere in Ankeny for 43 years before retiring in 2010. He had also worked at Quinn's in Boone for a time. Survivors include three sons, including Jeff and Brian of Boone, a daughter, a brother, Kevin, of Boone and a special friend, Becky Sundall.........Katherine Mason, 80, Ames. She served as an English teacher in the Ogden schools...........Forest Petrus, 84, Ames. For 14 years, was a member of the Iowa National Guard's Red Bull 34th Infantry Division of Boone.........Denise Ortgies-Jones, 54, Scottsdale, AZ. Survivors include a niece, Rachel Jones, of Boone.
