     BOONE CONNECTED DEATHS: Mike Bennett, 73, Boone.........Lou Galetich, 91, Madrid. Madrid HS-47. St Ambrose College. Inducted into St. Ambrose Athletic Hall of Fame. In 1952, in his first year of coaching, his team, Clinton St. Mary's, won the 1953 IHSAA state championship in the first Iowa state championship game to ever be televised (WOI-TV, Ames). He coached at Clinton St. Mary's for two years prior to becoming a teacher/coach at Remsen St. Mary's. In 1956, he began a 24-year teaching/coaching career at Carroll Kuemper High School. Lou relocated back to Madrid in 1980 and coached their for two years prior to retirement in 1998. During that time, he also served for 12 years as the Mayor of Madrid and 10 years with the Boone County Youth and Shelter Services. He was instrumental in bringing the "boot camp" to Woodward. That facility went on to become Woodward Academy and Lou was its first president in 1995 and continued to be a board member as Vice-President until 2013. In June of 2002, the Woodward Academy broke ground on their first  education center and gymnasium which was later named after him - Lou Galetich Education Center. Lou was always a staunch and active member of the Democratic party. A daughter survives.
