Wonderful news. On occasion, there have been rumors about the future of the Thursday edition of the Boone News Republican. Now, a positive statement has been issued to BNR patrons. It states that the Thursday edition will continue and, in fact, a Boone based editor has been hired and soon, some of the typical features of a hometown paper...….police, fire reports etc.....will be reinstated. That's great news and we look forward to these improvements.

BOONE CONNECTED DEATHS: Earl Culver, 86, Boone. Jordan HS-50. ISU. Air Force vet. Married Joann Bollenbaugh and they lived, at various times in Osceola and Boone. Earl was a farmer and custodian. He retired in 1995. Survivors include his wife, Joann, of Boone, two sons and a sister...……….Elmer Heimerman, 89, Boone. Marine vet. Married Ruth Troll in 1954. Worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture until retirement in 1984. After retirement, served as a maintenance man at Sacred Heart Church and Regency. Survivors include his wife, Ruth, and daughter, Judy, of Boone, two sons and a brother.
