With New Years Eve and New Years Day lurking, please be safe. Enjoy, but be safe.

An interesting note from Steven Pace of Chicago. He wrote, "I was introduced to your blog by my former Jackson Street neighbor, RaeAnn  Clark. I left Boone in 1957, but I have a wonderful memory of Christmas in Boone. About 65 years ago, Santa would come to Boone by train. My mom would take me down to the Boone depot and we would watch the train come into the station. I remember Santa was always in the cab next to the engineer. He'd get off the train, talk to all the kids in the station, collect the mail, and leave. Mom and I would leave the station and head to the Coney Island for lunch. Oh, I miss the Coney Island. Here in Chicago, Santa takes the EL but, its not the same."
Editor's note. I think its safe to say Steven is no relation to our friend Mike Pace, also a former resident.

QUICK NOTES: (1) Received a nice holiday phone greeting from Roger Dutton, BHS-63. (2) Patrons of Hearing Services of Iowa, at 724 Allen Street, have been informed that effective, December 31, 2018, that office will be closing. They will continue their offices in Jefferson and Ames. (3) Lots of talk about who the occupants of the new "mall" at the old Redeker location will be. There's been off and on mention of a dance studio there but we've been pretty well assured that it is a go. Also rumored are Dollar Tree, U.S. Cellular (they are already there), Goodwill, Great Clips etc. (4) There's been a rumor of a coffee shop coming to the old location of Godfather's, current location of Intensitee etc. Sure looks like there's some new activity there.
