THANK YOU ALL

     Another birthday is history and I thank all of you who contacted me in that regard, personally, by email or by card etc. etc.. It is so much appreciated to know that there are so many great friends "out there".
     I enjoyed some nice "outings" with family and friends, highlighted by some great meals, including featured deserts.
     There was one problem. I understand trips were made to Walmart, Bomgaars, Ace Hardware, Boone Hardware, HyVee, Fareway and even some out-of-town outlets seeking enough candles for the cake.
     Unfortunately, combined......the proper number were never obtained......fell far short of reality. Oh well! The candleless cake was very good anyway.

     Remember 1955?  (1) Did you hear that the post office is thinking about charging seven cents just to mail a letter?  (2) If they raise the minimum wage to $1 an hour, nobody will be able to hire outside help. (3) Who would ever think that gas would cost 25 cents a gallon? I guess we'd be better off leaving the car in the garage.
     How come a whale swims all day, only eats fish and drinks lots of water but is still fat? How come a rabbit spends a life running and hopping but only lives 15 years but a tortoise doesn't run at all and barely does anything and yet, lives 150 years?
     Finally, remember this.......if at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

     BOONE CONNECTED DEATHS: Tom Nutt, 75, Boone.......John Maul, 66, Boone.......Marjorie Sellers, 95, Boone. Worked for the Fort Dodge, Des Moines and Southern Railroad, moved to California for a few years but returned to Boone and worked for Dr. Mandersheid for 26 years. A son and son-in-law survive.
