THIS AND THAT

An interesting thought from the late billionaire Steve Jobs via Tom Peterson, BHS-67. Jobs passed away at age 56 but posed this question. "Who are the six best doctors in the world?"
The Kornerman is thinking.......Dr. DeBakey, the heart doctor pioneer, Dr. Seuss.....???
Wrong again! Here are the six "doctors" Jobs exalted..........sunlight, rest, exercise, diet, self-confidence and friends.

The Kornerman received some interesting material from Larry Adams, BHS-65, this week.
Without vocal and/or written contributions through the years from Boone area folks like Larry and Gretchen Caldwell Otis, BHS-52, are local history would not be nearly as vibrant as it is.
Larry is definitely a Booneite and has served our community in many ways. He was editor of the Trail Tales, the Boone County Historical Society publication, for 20 years. He was also a longtime board member and former secretary of that organization, acting as curator of the Mamie Eisenhower Birthplace for 26 years.
In more recent times, he's served as a curator of the William R. Higgins Jr. Foundation, a National Bank Note Museum and Library located at Okoboji and operating from mid-May through mid-September. The rest of the year, he remains a Boone resident.
He wears even more hats than mentioned previously. He's a licensed private investigator, a forensic consultant and in addition to historical research, he does genealogical research.
Larry is heavily involved in the Society of Paper Money Collectors, serving that organization as Past President, 1983-87, and as Vice President and board member.

Most churches have a sign out front with info about services etc.. Following are a few with a humorous twist.
What is hell like? Come hear our preacher.
God didn't create anything without a purpose but mosquitoes come close.
What happens in Vegas is forgiven here.
Come hear our pastor. He's not very good but he's quick.
God shows no favoritism but our sign guy does....Go Cubs.
We are still open between Christmas and Easter.
Lent is coming, get your ash in church.
