Paula D. Shaw Myers, 79, Clovis, NM. Born in Boone. Married Edward L. Myers in 1960. He passed away in 2005. The family resided in Boone until 1979 when to moved to Albuquerque, NM, Farmington, NM in 1981 and Clovis, NM in 1984. All the moves were in support of her husband's professional advancement. Paula earned a cosmetology license in the late 1980's. For 10 years, she specialized in acrylic nails. She retired in the late 90's. Paula was passionate about Christmas and enjoyed storytelling, crossword puzzles, cooking, sewing, gardening, reading and was a lifelong learner. Three adult children survive. A memorial service will be held in Iowa.
Jo Ann Morris Martin, 90, Boone. Born in Boone. BHS-53, where she was a standout basketball player. Earned a teaching certificate from Boone Junior College. Taught in Mapleton and Boone. Married Reverend Eugene R. Martin, who passed in 2015, after the couple had celebrated 56 years together. The couple served churches and camps in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania until retirement in 2000. Survivors include two brothers, Paul and Gale Morris, a sister, Helen, and four children, including Lauri A. Bouk of Boone. Services in Boone.
Glen Douglas Forster, 82, Boone. Born in Boone. BHS-60. Iowa National Guard vet. Married Carol Ann Zanker in 1963. Worked many years at John Deere Ankeny Works until retirement in 1998. Glen loved shooting pool, shuffleboard, hunting, golf and home repair. He loved singing/entertaining, going to car shows and backing the Packers and Hawkeyes. He was proud of his defeat of alcoholism, faced it head-on and shared his positive testimony. Survivors include his wife, Carol, sons Jeff and Mike and sister Carol all of Boone, as well as a daughter, Brenda. Private service.
Michelle Marie Miller, 55, Woodbury, MN. Formerly of Boone. Born in Fort Dodge. Lived in central Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota in support of her husband's work. A nurse and an avid animal lover. Survivors include her husband, Mike, a son, Travis, three siblings, Eric Klein, Wendy Koch and Kenny Rossing, and her step-mother, Sue Rossing. Services in Boone.
Michael Alan Day, 59, Boone. Born in Ames. Boone schools. Married Kim Anderson in Woolstock in 1998. Worked for Van Diest and then for Tom Walters Sanitation for over 10 years. He loved buying scratch tickets at L and M. Survivors include his mother, Linda Smith, his father, William Day, and a brother, Rick Day, all of Boone. A son, Nickolai Day and three half brothers, Matt, James and William Day, all of Boone, also survive. Ex-wife, Kim Day, of Boone and a daughter also survive.. A COL will be held in Boone.
Duane Obed Johnson, 89, Polk City. Survivors include his wife, a sister, Bev Kalsem, of Boone, a daughter and brother. Services in Polk City and Cambridge.
