BOONE/AREA CONNECTED DEATHS

      Dennis Kester, 70, Boone. Born in Boone. Attended ISU before moving to Texas. In Houston, was a Senior Design Consultant for a kitchen and bath accessories company. Back in Boone he managed Tony's Bar and worked in retail at Von Maur. He also enjoyed work at the Rose Center where he would help with decorations, dinners and transportation for individuals. Dennis had a big heart for animals. Survivors include his life companion, Louie Valenciano, who he met in Texas before moving back to Iowa. Boone survivors include his sibling, Randy Kester, and a sister-in-law, Penny Kester. A COL will take place at a later date.

      Ronnie Miller, 73, Boone. Born in Des Moines. BHS. Worked in highline construction. Survivors include two brothers, Orvale (Nancy) Miller and Bob Martin and a sister, Mary Jo Brown. COL at a later date.  

      Sidney Durham, 89, Boone. Born in Cushing, IA. After serving the military in the Korean War, Sid moved to Boone where he worked as a mechanic for Vogler-Nieman and Pat Clemons. He married, Carolyn Kay Ades, BHS-58, in 1976. In 1980, the couple moved to Winnett, Montana to manage Dobson Ranch for three years. After moving to town, Sid was a Deputy Sheriff and the head of city maintenance. In 1985, the Durhams moved back to Boone and Sid worked for Randy's meats and helped build the Laser Car Wash. He loved horses, golfing, fishing, woodworking and gardening. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn, and son Dallas (Christine) Durham both of Boone and a daughter, Kim (Dan). A COL will be held in Boone.

     Phyliss Watson, 93, Boone/Eastern Star. Born in Ira, IA. Milford HS. Married Kenneth E. Watson in Dawson in 1952. She spent a lifetime as a country girl. Loved quilting and sewing and a clean, orderly house. Reading was also important. Four children survive, including Stacy (Julie) Watson of Boone. Grandchilden and great grandchildren, including Boone residents also survive. Services in Boone.

     Marjorie Green, 91, Ames. Survivors include a son and five grandchildren, including Tracy (Eric Peters) of Boone. Services in Jefferson.
