BOONE CONNECTED DEATHS: David Carlson, 89, Beatrice, NE. Born in Boone. Luther HS-50. Attended ISU. Married Sarah Loretta McCoy in Boone in 1953. Army vet. The couple lived in several communities before settling in Beatrice in 1967. Operated an Arctic Circle and Bonanza in Beatrice and then, Buffy's Buffet in Lincoln,NE. until his retirement in 1996. Three sons survive.........Beverly Bernice Ford Long, 84, Lehigh. Lehigh HS-55. Married Russell Lee Long. They divorced but remained close. Worked at C.N.A. in Fort Dodge, Webster City, Stratford and Dayton. Eight children survive, including daughters, Rhonda Long and Jolene Watson, both of Madrid.........Erva Lynette Cox Huffman Hutchings, 88, Boone. Bagley HS-50. Married LaVerne Huffman in 1950. The couple lived in Perry and LaVerne was killed in a helicopter crash in 1966. Moved to Boone, lived in town a short time before moving to an acreage northwest of town for 33 years. In 1975, married Edward Hutchings. He died in 1988. In 1987, she started working for Principal Financial. Retired in 1995. Was an active bowler and active as a member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, David Huffman, of Boxholm, daughters, Rheanne Thies and Lynette McPherson, both of Boone, two step-sons and both sister and brothers-in-law.
