     BOONE CONNECTED DEATHS: Edna Mae Madden, 97, Boone. Her family lived in New Virginia, Indianola and Boxholm before settling on a farm in the Mackey area. Story City HS. Attended Thompson Beauty School in Des Moines and worked in Des Moines before moving to Boone. Married Dwayne Madden in 1943 and worked in Boone as a beautician at Bon Ton, Ron Do and New Beginnings until retirement at age 90. Survivors include two daughters, including Joyce Hart of Boone, and two sons, including Craig Madden of Boone. A sister, Mary Poling, also survives..........Nadine Harrington, 82, Madrid. Johnston HS. Survivors include four sons and a sister........Dale Van Langen, 80, Adel. Kamrar HS-57. Attended ISU and earned degrees from UNI in 1963 and his Masters at Northeast Missouri State. Army vet. Married Margaret Stewart in 1964. Taught at Miles two years, Dows eight years, South Tama two years and moved to Ogden to teach from 1976 until retirement in 1998. From 1998 to 2013, he owned and operated a small engine repair shop in Ogden until a second retirement. The couple then moved to Adel. Survivors include his wife, Margaret, a son, daughter, sister and two brothers..........Arnold "Arnie" Anderson, 65, Boone. Born in Boone. UCHS-73. Army vet. Was a part-time police officer in Ogden and then worked at ISU as a HVAC engineer and mentor. Married Sheri Porter in 1986. Survivors include his wife, a daughter, step-son, his mother, Charlotte, and three siblings........Shirley Rose, 82, Ogden. Manson HS. Worked in Fort Dodge. Married Raynold Rose in 1957 and while living in Boone, she worked at the J.C. Penny store. The couple moved to Ogden and worked together for 20 years at Sherbring Chevrolet. Survivors include two sons, including Don Rose of Ogden and two daughters, Debra Carlson and Dianne Nicklos, both of Ogden.......Merwin Johnston, 69, Boone. Audubon HS-69. Army vet. Attended Nebraska Christian and served as a minister in Anthon for two years. Worked 41 years at the DOT and as a Public Safety Officer for ISU. Married Shari Zenor. Survivors include his wife of Boone, seven children and a brother.........Raymond Kruse, 89, Ogden. His family was originally from Canada but in 1944, they moved to a farm south of Ogden. OHS-50. Navy vet. Married Dorothy Murken in 1952 and they farmed north of Ogden. Moved to their current Ogden home in 1962. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, two daughters, including Karla Kahler of Ogden, son Steve of Ogden, two brothers and two brothers-in-law..........Vern Soderstrum, 92, Luther. Born in rural Luther. Luther HS-45. Married Alta Smith in 1960. The couple farmed and had an egg laying operation north of Luther. Vern enjoyed playing fast pitch softball and being a regular member of the music group, the Rovers. Survivors include his wife, Alta, of rural Boone, a daughter, Cheryl Randall, of Woodward and a son, Kurt, of rural Boone. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law........Helen Jean Burkheimer, 74, Madrid........Vera Krengel, 92, Perry. Among the survivors is a son, John Krengel, of Boone........Dale Patrick Simonson,71, Stratford. Was born in Boone.........Lloyd William Clark, 97, Des Moines. Survivors include a son, Robert Clark, of Woodward and a grandson, Robert Clark Jr. of Boone.
