NUMEROUS DEATH REPORTS

Our Boone community, especially the local education community, is suffering the loss, in just a five-day period, of three of our most esteemed providers. The trio graced us and our children with their enormous talents for just at 100 years.
Dalene O'Brien, 64, passed away on October 20, Darlene Frazier, 90, on October 21 and Karen Hesser, 73, on October 24. Dalene served us for 32 years, Darlene for 33 years and Karen for 36 years.
We're sure that many of their former students, now, in places all over the world, are both in mourning and in gratitude for the inspiration they received from that trio's guidance.
After courageous battles with health issues, their battles are over. May they rest in peace.

Verne Lyon, BHS-61, has a proposed project on his mind.
Verne says he's interested in "re-purposing" an old building at the Ledges State Park.
The building he is talking about was built in the 1920's by the civilian conservation corporation, along with the old trading post, at a site at the south end of the canyon drive. The trading post, however, was taken apart several years ago and re-assembled further up the hill. The remaining building is the old stone restroom that Verne says, "has been unused for probably 35-40 years and the DNR has no plans for it."
Verne insists the building is solid, although it would need a new roof and some new doors and windows  He'd like to see it turned into a gift/snack facility staffed by volunteers and maybe some young folks wanting to make a few dollars.
He's forwarded his idea to the Park Ranger and the "Friend of the Ledges" group but hasn't received much encouragement. He hasn't given up though and intends to try to meet with the DNR about his idea. He would also like to hear from others who may have an interest in aiding this pursuit.
