COMPUTER PROBLEMS....PLEASE GO AWAY

The Kornerman is the midst of fighting computer problems so...….first off, I hope I've found a way to send this edition your way. My computer is not acting the way it should  and we're still attempting to find a way to get back to "normal," but with limited success so far.
Both my PC and Jo's lap top have been affected.
Things were sailing along wonderfully until Alliant Energy came into our yard, very briefly, and  a power outage for not more than 15 seconds was the result. Since then, our computers have gone bonkers with those nasty yellow X's and red X's which just won't go away.
Bare with us and...….if the Korner doesn't appear at our usual time...….its probably due to our computer problems. Dang things are wonderful when they work as they're supposed too but a real pain when they don't.

Lots of business construction action late this season as attempts are made to advance projects prior to the real winter.
By the way, don't be surprised to hear of some news regarding our two Kum and Go locations. Word is that they have been purchased and will remain operational but under a different name.
Nerem Real Estate has relocated from downtown to a portion of the former Fareway Educational Center on the south side near highway 30. A second portion of that building will be occupied by Bacon Jewelry so two more downtown buildings will, apparently, be emptied.
The new bank, new dental office and an optometric building are underway at the south end of town and Alice's Place, a 50 unit, government backed retirement facility, will be welcoming renters in the coming days.
Things are looking good at the old Redeker's building on South Story. Cement has recently been poured on the north and west sides of the facility and that provides for lots of parking area. The revitalized building has the look of a very nice strip mall and there appears to be room for at least six or more businesses. Lots of rumors floating around about possible renters...…..Goodwill, Dollar Tree, a dance studio, a hair salon, a fast food eating establishment, a sports clothing operation etc. etc. etc.
Then too, FINALLY...….after many promises......it appears there will be a new McDonald's built at the current location starting as soon as February. The current location is 38 years old. Same location but a little different change of direction will be noted.
Boulder's Inn and Suites is well underway and there have been several events in the Fareway Convention area of that new facility.

Jo and I have been so impressed with the Optimist Club Avenue of Flags that the Kornerman is going to give it a plug.
We were approached some time ago by that club. For $35 per year, they would install a flag in our yard at dawn until dusk on five holidays...….Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Veterans Day. We've noticed a few or our neighbors have joined us in securing that service and we've seen a few scattered here and there around town.
They're nice flags and sure enough, early the morning of the holiday, a flag is placed in our yard and at about darkness, it is removed and taken away.
For more info, here are a couple phone numbers......641-485-1040 and 641-870-0190. An address given is 714 5th Street.
