Joan E. Braland Williams, 91, Story City/Bethany Life SC, Formerly of Boone. Born in Radcliffe. Randall HS. Married Lyle M. Williams in Missouri in 1952. The couple settled in Boone in 1967 but wintered in Texas and South Carolina. A homemaker, Joan was a Hawkeye fan, enjoyed country music, camping crocheting, sewing, playing cards, attending stock car races and traveling by motorcycle. Four children survive, Lyle, (BHS-70) Junior Williams of Boone, Wayne Williams, (BHS-72); Pam, (BHS-75) Ahrens and Elizabeth Liz (BHS-80) Pevestorf. A sister, Janet (Arlo) Richardson also survives. Services in Boone.
Duane Lee Shreve, 61, Luther. Born in Boone. Grew up in Luther. United Community HS-82. Was a basketball and football player. Earned an Associates Degree from DMACC. He loved the outdoors. Worked in housing and construction as long as his health allowed it. Enjoyed ISU, the Chicago Bears and NASCAR. Survivors include his mother, Nancy Ross, and a sister, Diane (Don) Shearer. No services planned.
Elsie Marie Elsberry Holmes, 58, Boone. BHS-85. Elsie loved playing bingo, fishing, camping, cruising the loop with her girls and feeding the deer. Three daughters survive, including Cheryl Holmes of Boone. COL planned for a later time.
Emily Louise Johnson Anderson, 88, Story City. Born in Des Moines. Grew up in the Pilot Mound area. Iowa State Teachers (UNI) grad. Taught in Randall and Rolfe,1957-71. Was an excellent pianist and played the organ for 72 years. Very active in P.E.O. Survived by her husband, Chuck, a daugher, Kay, and a brother.
