BOONE/AREA CONNECTED DEATHS

       Linda Jeanne Ward Rickertsen, 75, Houston, TX. Born in Cedar Rapids. Grew up in Boone where her parents owned and operated Imperial Lanes. BHS-67. State University of Iowa two years. Married UOI classmate Donald Leroy Rickertsen. The couple moved to Chicago, the University of Chicago, where Don obtained his law degree. Relocated to Atlanta in 1973 and Linda obtained a B.B.A. degree from Georgia State in 1981. Linda held various roles in finance over the years, including chief financial officer for a succession of broker dealers. Bank of America took her to Charlotte, N.C. from 1997-2002 before she returned to Atlanta, working there for SunTrust Robinson Humphrey until retirement in Boynton Beach, FL. in 2016. In her last year, she lived in Houston, near a son. Perpetually optimistic, she never let chronic ailments get her down. Traveled to over 30 countries and as long as she was able, loved to golf, bowl and swim. Survivors include a son, a daughter and four siblings, Debbie Dogotch, Randy, Daniel and Patty Ward. A COL will be held in North Liberty, IA and burial in Cedar Rapids.

       Mary Jane Russell Poling, 84, Boone. Born in Boone. BHS-58. Married Lesley "Bud" Poling in Mackey in 1958. Became an LPN in 1973 after several years of working as a farm wife. Was a nurse for 30 years before retirement. She continued part time work  at the Hilton in Ames and the Boone Speedway. Mary enjoyed reading Danelle Steele books, doing word searches and gardening. Her husband passed in 1997. Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Elsberry, son Marty Poling and brother, Joe (Judy) Russell all of Boone. A second son, Chris Poling, also survives as well as special friend, Ken Jacobs. Services in Boone.

        Marie Dorothy Freeman Bengtson, 102, Boxholm/Grandview Dayton. Born in Boxholm. Boxholm HS-39. Married Waldo F. Bengston in Boxholm in 1943. Very active in her church, including in WELCA and other church circles. Was a member of the Dayton Country Club and Boxholm Community Club. She loved taking care of the flowers at the town park and at her church. Survivors include two sons, Barry and Rick. Services in Boxholm and Ogden. 

        Judy Mae Morgan Freeman, 71, Norwalk. Born in Spencer. Alta HS-71. Married Terry Freeman. They divorced. For many years, Judy worked at Sonoco Products in Boone. A son, a brother and a sister survive. Services in Ogden.

      Michael Stephenson. COL will be held in Stratford.
