BOONE/AREA CONNECTED DEATHS

        D. Jerry Godwin, 89, Boone. Born in Boone. Attended BHS. Married Rose Miller in 1953. They divorced. Jerry worked at the Fareway Warehouse, owned Godwin's Grocery and Meat Locker and retired after working in the Maintenance Department at River Valley Care Facility. He enjoyed woodworking and collecting old bar signs. Loved his '62 Studebaker convertible and the gathering of friends at the Adobe. Patty Heath was the love of his life and the two passed away within a few hours of each other. A son and daughter survive. Services in Boone. 

       Linda Lee Heithoff Romitti, 82, Altoona. Born in rural Manning. MHS-59. She attended Northwest Institute of Medical Technology in Minneapolis in 1960. Worked as a lab technician at Saint Francis Hospital in Grinnell and then the Beaverdale Clinic in Des Moines in the early 60's.. Married Marion A. Romitti in Manning in 1965 and they lived in Centerville from 1965-73. While there, she received an Associate Arts Degree and completed her LPN program from Indian Hills Community College. The family moved to Madrid in 1973 and in 1979, Linda graduated from Grandview College with a B.S. in Nursing. She worked at the Woodward State Hospital as an Area RN and then at the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals until retirement in 2006. In 1997, Linda was named Employee of the Month, Iowa Surveyor of the Year and Regional Surveyor of the Year. Linda moved to the Cedars in Madrid in 2018 and then Prairie Vista Village in Altoona in 2020. She loved to read and travel. Two sons and a sister survive. Linda's husband, Marion Romitti, a former Madrid School Superintendent, preceded her in death in 2022. Services in Altoona and Van Meter.

      Eva Rudisil Wallace, 102, Boone/Westhaven. Survivors include many friends at Westhaven where she lived for 15 years. Services in West Des Moines.

     Gladys E. Overland Fjelland, 101, Huxley/Eastern Star. Born in Ames. AHS. Worked at the Ordinance Plant, Earl May and helped on the farm. Married Rodger Fjelland. She enjoyed gardening and playing cards. Among the survivors is a grandson, Craig Fjelland, of Ogden. Services in Ames.
