Kirke C. Quinn, 74, Boone. Raised on family farm near Newton. NHS-69. Earned a B.S. and J.D. from Drake University. Was a member of the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers and served as its resident for a full term.In 1998, he was inducted into the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers during a ceremony in London. He loved spending time at the Quinn Family Farm and the family cabin on Lake of the Woods. An avid golfer, tennis player and lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, he made annual trips to Sturgis. He was always the same man, principled, generous and loyal. He loved his family, as a dad who never missed a game, a grandpa who turned the farm into an adventure and the man who ensured his daughters knew they could take on the world. Survivors include three daughters, two brothers and his significant other, Kathy Thompson. COL in Ankeny.
Don (Donnie) Engnell, 89, Boone. Born near Boone. BHS-54. Air Force vet. Married Sharon Jean Tilley in Boone in 1959. Donnie farmed all his life but also worked at DeWitt Implement in Ogden for over 30 years. He was a bowler and member of the Elks Lodge. Three children survive, including Joni Sheriff and Julie (Scott) Door both of Boone. Two sisters-in-law, Jo Ellen Engnell and Sandy Garberding, also survive. Services in Boone.
Kay Viola Dahl Pizinger, 86, Woodward. Formerly of Dayton. Born, raised and educated in Dayton. Married Lawrence Don Pizinger in Dayton in 1954. The couple first lived in Illinois and in the mid-60's, moved to Boone where Kay worked at Archway and Lawrence at Quinn's Foundry. Later, Kay accompanied Lawrence while he worked over the road as a boiler maker for a Kansas City Union. He died in 1995. Kay, then moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas prior to moving to Woodward in 2016. A former member of the Dayton Wranglers, she enjoyed sewing, growing flowers and gardening. Survivors include her son, Scott, of Woodward and three sisters, including Toni (Larry) Kelley of Boone. Graveside service at the Dayton cemetery.
