BOONE/AREA CONNECTED DEATHS

      Bernie Saggau, 97. Former Boone resident. Former Executive Director of the Iowa Boys High School Athletic Association. Services planned for June in Des Moines.  

      Kern L. Marlow, 73, Ogden. OHS-69. Air Force vet. Married Kristine Stockman in 1986 and they lived in Ogden. A skilled carpenter and mechanic, Kern spent countless hours teaching his kids and grandkids how to swing a hammer, measure twice and cut once and how to get grease on your hands. Kern was a member of the American Legion Post #55 and enjoyed traveling with his family. Survivors include his wife, Kristine, two daughters, two sisters and his mother-in-law, Evelyn Stockman. Services in Ogden.

     Agnes Louise "Lou" Baier (Madison). Coralville. Survivors include her husband, Leo, three children and an adopted sister, Cathy Williams, of Boone. Services in Iowa City.

     Robert Gowing Clymer, 75, Goodyear, AZ. BHS-68. Survivors include his wife, Betty, three children, a brother, John PHD, BHS-60, and a sister, Carol Jo Meyers-Walker, BHS-63. Internment in Peru, Indiana.

    Larry Gene Miller, 85, Ogden. Born in Perry. Raised on a farm southwest of Woodward near Lake Robbins. Woodward HS-58. Married Billie J. Chapman and helped raise her two children. For 36 years, he was married to Dorothy M. Oeffner until her death in 2022. Larry enjoyed farm life and farmed with his dad and brother, Denny. His dad died early and Larry, at age 13, and Denny, at age 11, took over the farm together. Larry continued farming in Dallas and later,Warren County until 1978. He then purchased Hoffman Oil Company in Ogden and operated that until selling it to Quick Oil in the late 1990's. He enjoyed restoring classic Farmall tractors and equipment, Red Power Magazine, gardening, classic cars, pet cats and in his youth, fast cars. Two sons, two daughters and his brother survive. No services with burial at Woodward Cemetery.
